Just A Knit Wit

I've got a couple needle work projects going right now. I do enjoy it, but I can only go so long at a time with the tiny x's. It's amazing to take different color threads, make little x's on cloth and end up with a beautiful picture all your own.

It's pronounced "KAY-ff" or "cayf". I took a quilting class some years ago with the woman who machine quilts all his quilts, or did at that time. That is the way she pronounced it...good enough for me!

I have both of those books on my shelf -- have for years -- and while I've never made a thing from either, they are the most wonderful, inspirational, go-to books ever. It is quite lovely to get lost in the pages every now and then...

Love your red kitchen! Mine is more of a maroon... I don't think there's a neutral wall standing in my house!

Yeah... Kaffe like "Waif" and Ralph "Raif" Fiennes. Kind of strange, but yeah.. that's how it's said although I can't remember who's blog it was on.

I 'THINK' the red is beautiful. My daughter just painted her kitchen a deep rich red too. It's looks really neat. I love all the colors now days. But I have wood paneling and my husband has a coniption fit everytime I say the word 'paint'. I live through other peoples' decorating. Thanks for the red kitchen.

Hi Holly,

I'm your neighbor! I love to knit and spin too. I like your site and I love your bags. I was drooling over the velvety one at Unique Yarns. Such quality. You really have a gift!

I have been fortunate enough to pick up a couple of Fassett's knitting books at the local HALF PRICE book store. I haven't been brave enough to start something that has charts out the wazoo AND requires about a million bobbins... but I did get brave enough to do some free-style repeat patterns with unexpected colors. Have fun playing in the hues.
And I think the shawl is lovely with or without the ruffle... I know what you mean, though, about ruffles being "light and fluffy" rather than dark and firm.

France captain Patrice Evra claims that coach Raymond Domenech dropped him from the squad for "no valid reason'' and denied him the chance to apologise to the French public by reading out the players' statement himself.

Have they settled on Wes Johnson? Are they open to moving back in the lottery? The Nets need to turn this pick into some kind of valuable piece that can help attract a free agent. They already have center Brook Lopez and point guard Devin Harris; now add a starter (and they hope a potential star) with this pick to go with the max free agent they can bring in this summer. Altogether, this has the makings of an impressive starting lineup: Harris, shooting guard Courtney Lee, Johnson, power forward Carlos Boozer (a likely free-agent target next week) and Lopez.
