Monday, January 13, 3:48 pm, 40 degrees (HEAT WAVE...tropical heat wave) partly cloudy
Since our last visit to the labyrinth it has been bitter, bitter cold, it has rained, ice fell from the sky making driving very hazardous, and the temperature had become unseasonably warm. They say if you don't like the weather in Illinois, wait a minute. Today the going was really difficult since the top layer of snow was frozen.
You can see some shiny ice patches in this picture.
The bench no longer has its cushion of snow.
On the path I found this little rolled up bit of birch bark. The closest birch tree is way up next to the house, so this little guy must have had a wild ride on the wind.
I found the sky against the trees to be particularly beautiful today.
As this little project gels and evolves in my head I'm just going to follow it and see where it goes. I've decided to add what I'm meditating on as I walk. Today it was the power of simple words.
Last week we stopped by Kysa's house for a breif visit to give all the grandbabies some kisses and hugs. While we stood in the kitchen Kysa came over, put her arm around me and said, "I'm glad you're here." Those little words meant so much to me. It made me think about all the times I don't say the sweet words that I might be thinking. Today while walking I thought about kind, simple words and it made my heart happy.
