My dear ones, it is positively glorious here today. Cool, sunny, beautiful. We are so blessed to live in a part of the country with four seasons to enjoy. (Ok, I did not enjoy summer, but I'd miss it if it were gone. Maybe.)
We're going right for the random today:
*FUN: cdza. Cdza is a bunch of really talented musicians who make really funny videos on random topics, like ring tones or street names. Once I was tipped off to their greatness I spent the next hour watching videos. I'm particularly fond of "history of wooing women" but towards the end it gets a little inappropriate (which I enjoy) so I'll let click and decide for yourself. (do it) "City Streets, Famous Musicians" is below.
*KNITTING: Malabrigo Rios, how I do love thee. Malabrigo Rios 862 Peidras, to be specific. Superwash merino, 210 yards, $13.60 a hank at WEBS. I found this yarn at The Knitting Tree in Madison and bought 3 skeins without a single clue what I was going to do with it. It is absolute yarn perfection and I had to have it. At first I thought I might make a hat and mitts and casted on for a hat. About 10 rows in it was clear it did not want to be a hat, it wanted to be a back zip baby sweater for a little boy.
My useless camera washes the color out so click to embiggen for a better view. It is just delicious. I don't know what baby boy will be receiving it. It will depend on how big it ends up being. OR if I'm lucky, I'll have enough yarn to make TWO back zip baby sweaters for TWO lovely little boys. It's the most fun knitting I've had in months. Pattern is here.
*BOOKS. Help me. Since "The Night Circus" I haven't read anything that I really connected with. I need some suggestions. Don't make me beg. Please. Sigh.
*MOVIES. Nothing to report from the big screen, but I watched a couple via Netflix that I enjoyed; Timer and The Answer Man. Both are light, sweet, gentle films that are just nice to watch. No killing, no time travel, no zombies, just nice films. Not that I have anthing against the zombies. (brains)
*TV: Revenge. Good gravy, I don't know what we were doing all last season, but we never even gave it a thought. During the tv dead zone that was the last month or so we started to look for a series to kill time with and decided on Revenge. We are now completely sucked in and are almost finished with the first season and ready to begin the new one. A dark look at how the other half lives. Again, via Netflix.
*PRODUCT: We live in a 30 year old house with 3 cats and 2 dogs and a human with a very sensitive nose. (moi) It goes without saying that occasionally our house does not smell nice. Combine that with my tendency towards pyromania and we generally have candles burning all the time. After trying several candles my favorites are the Ashland Jar Candle at Michaels. They smell fantastic, last at least as long as the expensive brand (that begins with a y and ends with an e which I also love) and are really well priced. I don't know what they cost usually, but frequently they go on sale for 3 for $10. Seriously. Right now I'm burning Apple Cinnamon in the kitchen and Patchouli Sage here in the office. No affiliation.

Do I remember that you loved Cloud Atlas? I finished The Beautiful Mystery recently... part of a mystery series by the Canadian writer Louise Penny. This one has lots of historical information about Gregorian chants, a bit about the inquisition and characters I have come to care about. (Plus the author's writing bio is pretty inspiring, too!)
