Party planning tip of the day; always leave enough time to accommodate for plan B.
Cupcakes; an important part of a 3 year olds birthday party. A Halloween themed birthday party. As I previously mentioned, I had a plan and it was a good one. Chocolate cake frosted with white and topped with a happy little ghost...except the ghosts didn't turn out so happy. Behold the strange alien ghost next to plan B, an internet printable. (and thank the powers that be for it).
Take your time and get a good look at it. Click to embiggen. It's ok to laugh. When I had accomplished about 10 of them I sat back and laughed myself silly. Is it a ghost....or an alien? A ghost with a squinting problem? A ghost in sunglasses? A strange sort of marshmallow muppet ghost? They were supposed to have little swirls of marshmallow on the top of their heads which I gave up on even before I encountered the eye problem. Martha Stewart I am not. Poor little thing never had a chance.
So, off to the mecca of good ideas I went and only two clicks after my google search I came up with the ghost on the left. Yay! The day is saved! Except that I didn't have any white card stock and no car to go get some. That's ok, I have photo paper. And...print! Print! Printing! Print and print.....not printing. Why is it so hard to find a printer that just prints? It's a big fancy fax/copy/print thing that was set to print from the back tray. I didn't even know it had a back tray. Mess with the settings, go back and print again. I turn it off...wait a bit...turn it back on. Print? No. Luck. Finally I push the thing out, find the gosh darn back tray, put the paper in it and print. Again. Finally, success. And here they are.
Not only were there ghosts, but bats and spiders, too! Much cuter than questionable marshmallow ghosts. Victory is sweet. (he he...see what I did there?)
So, even though I didn't have a plan B, I found one. Thank goodness I had the whole day to work it out. Live and learn. :-)
The internet is amazing. We're having a Halloween party on Saturday, and I'm wondering if maybe my food options won't look like the pictures... eek!
