Welcome to Monday where there is a lovely breeze blowing the prayer flags in the garden. The weather of late has been exactly as summer should have been and I'm looking forward to the even cooler temps coming later in the week. I have never been more excited about cool weather than I am this year.
We had such a great weekend! AH only had to work for a few hours, which freed us up for a trip to Madison on Saturday to see a movie (more on that below), get a cupcake and shop for some birthday ideas for Miss C. There is something healing in the act of heading out on a little adventure. No phones, no work, just he and I. We've always been at our best when we travel.
Along with the little trip north there was also some home jobs completed.
The kitchen back splash is now fully tiled and grouted. It's amazing what a difference grout makes! Now I have to finish the curtains and we'll almost have a completed room. I say 'almost' because we intend to redo the floors (which are ugly in a way that can't be expressed and that I'm too embarrassed to take pictures of) and there is still a bit of molding work missing.
I spent some time in the craft room (aka...the basement dungeon) working on these cute felted pumpkins. Or, a pumpkin and an apple. I didn't have enough orange felt to do two pumpkins so I improvised. Tutorial here.
Randomness:
*Movies: Saturday we went to Madison to the Sundance theater to see Robot and Frank. I really liked it on lots of levels. I know for sure that if we ever had a robot (and I would LOVE one) I would get attached to it. Then on Sunday we saw Resident Evil:Retribution which I wouldn't recommend unless you are a fan of the earlier movies. While we did get to see a few old friends (who have seriously gone over to the dark side) I found myself missing the old-school, foot dragging zombies of movies past. This new, more evolved, bunch aren't anywhere near as much fun.
Television: I love Long Island Medium. Love it, and yes, I do believe that medium/psychics are real. I don't know if she is legit, but she's a hoot to watch. I wish I could do what she does...give comfort to sad, frightened people.
New product find: DRY SHAMPOO!! Where the heck have I been that I've never tried dry shampoo? I went into Ulta the other day and got TRESemme Fresh Start Waterless Foam Shampoo for curly/dry hair. Because my hair is colored and wavy/curly it drys out easily so I try not to wash it more than every third day. I tried the foam yesterday and was wowed by the results. It absorbed the excess oil and gave my hair great volume. It even reactivated my curl a bit. Two thumbs up for this product!
Hope you are able to greet the beginning of your week with lots of positive energy.♥
