Yes, it is true, the mod podge and I are now good buds. Every surface I look at now is assessed as a possible mod podge project. Could it? Should it? It's ridiculous, but fun. SO much fun.
Today, a Saturday, AH is working. This has become my mantra. How's AH? Working. Where's AH? Working. We pass each other like college dorm mates in the hallway and the kitchen. Still it is a job and one that he enjoys....or at least he did. Anyway, I had a Saturday to occupy myself sans transportation so I decided to get crafty.
Please try not to be dazzled by my stellar floral arranging skills. (that was a joke, son) What we are looking at here is the vase.
I took one of those generic vases that always come with floral deliveries, chose fabric and had a mod podgy good time. I just cut up fabric and podged it to the vase. My first coat was the basic variety, but since it would be holding water, I decided to do another coat using the outdoor mod podge. The outdoor takes longer to dry and leaves a sort of glossy/tacky surface, but I don't find it objectionable.
And so it was transformed from a basic glass vase to a kind of patchy, 60's vibe vase...still, it needed something. So I jazzed it up a bit.
The ribbon is a cut piece of an old silk scarf I don't wear any more. Lately I've been hitting the jewelry clearance displays in department stores and grabbing some good cheap jewelry to cannibalize into my own designs. Kohls is a particularly good place for this.* Here is a link to the Kohl's discount jewelry page. I ordered several things online recently and got some great deals.
I had picked up an ear cuff with some feather chains hanging from it and had a few red feathers left over from Michelle's wedding so I added a little bead charm and jump ringed it all to the cuff chain. The round disk is from Plaid and I just mod podged a piece of fabric to the back. A little funky, a little weird, not unike myself. I'm rather pleased. (remember you can click on the pics to make them bigger)
The weather has been just incredible of late. Exactly what summer should feel like. The morning and evenings are cool and the days just warm enough, but not too warm that the a/c is required. It has renewed my faith that Fall may happen after all. I heard that Edward's is opening next weekend! Sending wishes for a lovely weekend. ♥
