So, it's friday. TGIF and all that. Here in Muttville I have been living in the land of pain. You may recall that I have a herniated disc in my neck. I've been watching way too much Stargate lately and now I like to refer to it as "the snake in my neck" which, of course, it most certainly is not. Still, we find fun where we are able. Anyway, I went to the doctor on Tuesday and told him that I thought my sinuses were infected. He looked up my nose, down my throat, in my ears and declared me mistaken. "I think it's your neck" he tells me and has me stand up. "Yup. Your neck." How he can tell this from me standing up is something only years of medical school can explain. So the pain continues and radiates across my shoulder and down my right arm, across my chest. It is only relieved with a combination of pain killers and muscle relaxers which is great (REALLY great) if being coherent isn't part of your daily agenda. Luckily, I can sit around and watch Stargate all day. At least I think it was Stargate. No, it was Stargate. Today it has isolated itself to my neck, which is a lovely relief. Usually, these little episodes resolve in a few days. If not, it's off to the pain doctor for an injection. Happy, happy, joy, joy. Such is life.
A few randoms:
*Mr Emerson has flipped and is now head down and ready to be born. This came as a very big relief to his Mama. His due date is September 2 so we are hoping he stays this way just a few more weeks. We will learn the gender of his cousin on the 21st. So much happiness!
*My new food obsession is Jersey Mikes. I could eat it every single day. So good and they are so much fun.
*Did you hear that they are making a movie/series out of Outlander? Honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about this. Game of Thrones is crazy good, so I suppose there is hope.
*The Night Circus is a very good read. It's unusual, but in a good way. I'm sure there is a plot in it somewhere, but its told in odd little chapters from multiple points of view. It's magical, fanciful and beautiful.
*Stargate SG-1. Nuff said.
*When I went outside this morning to take pictures of the zinnias (aren't they beautiful?) it was almost chilly. Almost. Right now the windows are open and the a/c off. This is such a wonderful thing I can hardly articulate.
*Sikh shooting in Milwaukee. What in the world is wrong with people? I don't understand how a person can become so fueled by hate and fear that they would desire to kill. Breaks my heart.
Have a wonderful weekend, lovely ones. The forecast here looks promising. I can hardly wait to kick this summer to the curb!
