We recently painted my bathroom, which we will discuss in a future post, and I was poking around TJ MAXX looking for a few little somethings to put on the walls when I came across this:
It's a kit to make your own clock. I can't find any online, which is probably why it was on the clearance shelf priced at $5.50. Basically, it's a piece of fiber board that you can paint or decoupage or whatever you like with clock working to add when you're finished.
I bought it, not really sure exactly what I was going to do with it.
So, after I poked around TJs, I walked over and poked around Michaels, hitting all the clearance end caps until I found a little of this and a little of that.
I gathered up some papers I liked, my trusty Modpodge and jumped right in.
First thing I did was cover the entire surface with old dictionary pages. The pencil in the center is to keep the hole for the clock workings clear of glue. Then I took the papers and ripped them into pieces. I chose one motif to use for the center and then chose the others randomly, gluing them all over the dictionary pages. Sorry I didn't take more pictures will I was gluing and embellishing. I was kinda in the zone. :-)
Here it is before the hands were added.
I have to admit I kind of love it. I should have taken more detail pics. You can click to embiggen for a better look.
On the wall. Yay! Cool thing is that I can see it in the mirror behind me. Of course now I want to Modpodge everything I can get my hands on! So much fun. Brought me back to grade school days as I peeled it off my fingers. :-) Crafty fun!
