...we are still dying here. DYING. The only creatures who seem to enjoy the heat are the newly shaved cats as they lay by the window basking in the sunshine. The a/c vent is right beneath them, so they are truly enjoying the best of both worlds. Our forecast today was for a 98 degree high, but it's 99 and not quite noon. After I typed that I checked again and now it's 101. The birds pant with open bills at the bird feeders and each time we open the doors to let the dogs in or out, bugs zoom toward the cool blast. We had a firefly in our bedroom the other night and I almost didn't have the heart to send him back out into the heat.
I said to AH the other day, "I NEED Minnesota." Not the July Minnesota, though, busy with tourists. I need the October Minnesota with the mist rolling in over the lake.
The wave crashing, fireplace burning, birch tree populated Minnesota that makes me feel alive and happy, and after this h&ll of a summer I'm going to need some serious rejuvenation. Serious. Rejuvenation. in the form of overcast skies and north winds on my face.
While we continue to suffer the lethargy and oppression of 100 degree heat, there are always some bright spots to help us along. Miss C is growing up so quickly. She took the ipad, found a quiet chair, and pulled up her favorite Caillou video, all by herself. I came around the corner to find her settled in and happy. We are less than two months away from meeting her brother, and that is certainly something to look forward to. I will be well on my way to becoming a recluse by then.
Last night I dreamed of snow falling on my face and it was beautiful.
