So yeah, it's hot here. It's after 10pm and it's 85. The high was some god-awful number with a 1 at the beginning followed by two other numbers that I am choosing to ignore. It is hot and humid which, for me personally, is a recipe for a case of the uglies. Nothing about me thrives at temps over 75. My hair revolts and must be brushed into submission and attached to the back of my head with a vicious looking comb. I do not glisten, I do not shine. I sweat, and I sweat in places where ladies should not admit to sweating. Still, I had a lovely lunch with my lovely sister and a super sized dinner with friends and family which included some sweet kisses from the Marvelous Miss C. How bad can it really be if toddler kisses are involved? (Honestly, REALLY bad, but kisses do help.)
The lawn has decided to take an extended vacation to brown/crispyville. I know we can coax it back by frequent watering but I haven't the energy. AH does keep the veggie garden watered as well as the flower beds and things in pots, but the grass must be sacrificed. There is only so much water on this planet and the rain barrel dried up weeks ago. One positive thing, and I apologize to Buddha before I say it, are the many scorched Japanese Beetles that I've been seeing in the geranium pots. Fry you little suckers! I know we are all connected, even the bugs and the plants, but those beetles are just plain evil. I don't think they count.
I know why people in the middle east kill each other; they are hot. They are hot and they can't think straight. Then they get hot AND angry (which I can completely relate to) and before you know it.......boom. We need to send these people air conditioners, or at the very least, those little hand held fans with water bottles attached so they can fan and spritz to a better outlook on life. To all of you who live in very hot climates, my prayers are with you. Seriously. I can't imagine how you stay sane.
Thank you air conditioning. Thank you popsicles. Thank you Coke in frosty mugs that make the Coke all slushy in the bottom. Thank you Fall and thank you Winter. I'm looking forward to seeing you again. Maybe that is what Summer is good for; making Winter look so darn good.
Stay chill, people.
