The sign of a great vacation is not knowing for sure what day or date it is. I'm pretty sure it's Thursday and that we will have to leave this beautiful place tomorrow. It's been a perfect week of sight seeing and relaxing. On Tuesday we drove up to Grand Portage State Park to see High Falls. We've become quite the hikers on this trip. It may actually be the only vacation I've taken where I've lost weight. We walk everywhere in all weather and I'm enjoying every minute. After seeing the falls we drove over the Canadian border, just to say we did it. The border people were surly, but didn't search our car. With all the media play about the Mexican border lately, it has been sort of interesting to see so many border patrol vehicles up here. I highly doubt they have much trouble with disgruntled Canadians trying to flee the country, but who knows.
On the drive back from Canada we decided to stop at Grand Portage Casino and make a donation to the Grand Portage Indian Nation. We gambled away about $10 on the slot machines and called it a day. We were definitely the youngest people there, which was sort of weird. Another strange sight was the big military Hummer parked next to us that was special ops. Up in the middle of nowhere there were special ops officers. We didn't see them, maybe they were gambling, too.
It's snowing here this morning and we are hoping for a couple of inches so we can go out and play in it a bit. Lots of places to take the camera and get some beautiful snow shots.
Gorgeous pics Holly! Glad you're having fun!
